    The Senior Academic Personnel Strategist serves as a key member of the School of Biological Sciences' leadership team, partnering with the Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and Department Chairs to provide strategic leadership, expert guidance, and operational oversight for all academic personnel matters by managing complex faculty appointments, advancements, promotions, retentions, and administrative actions; interpreting and implementing UC Systemwide and campus policies; leading process improvements, policy development, training, and technology initiatives; advising leadership on sensitive personnel issues; resolving complex faculty matters; coordinating schoolwide academic personnel programs; representing the School on campus committees; and providing expert consultation, analysis, and direction to academic HR staff to ensure consistent, compliant, and effective administration of academic personnel programs.

    The Lead Academic Personnel Analyst serves as the School of Biological Sciences' senior subject matter expert for non-Senate academic personnel, providing strategic leadership, policy interpretation, and operational oversight by independently managing complex academic appointments, advancements, recruitments, and personnel actions; ensuring compliance with UC Systemwide, campus, and collective bargaining policies; advising School leadership, faculty, and departments on complex academic HR matters; leading policy implementation, process improvements, training, and systems enhancements; supervising staff; and serving as a key liaison between the School, campus offices, and academic departments while supporting Senate faculty actions and other high-level academic personnel initiatives as needed.

    As the Communications Director for Biological Sciences, Mario coordinates communication strategies and publicizes research and other features through news releases, articles, interviews, videos and social media. He also serves as co-leader of the campus' Research Communications Program, which trains scientists to clearly and effectively communicate their research to public audiences.

With 24 years of experience working in higher education in a variety of roles, Augie aims to authentically and effectively engage with alumni to facilitate connections with current students, faculty, and staff.

    Julie serves as the lead philanthropic gift officer for Biological Sciences, providing leadership, management, and overall program strategy in planning, coordinating, and implementing fundraising activities for the Dean, Faculty Members, volunteers, and other key collaborative partners for the School. Her mission is to build a comprehensive development program that will engage local, regional, national, and international donors and alumni to actively participate in personalized partnerships that will further the mission and strategic goals of the School to best serve our students and maximize our broad impact in society.

    Melissa supports the School's Co-Op Program and Corporate Affiliates Program (BioCAP) by engaging students, alumni, and industry partners in an effort to expand a diverse and robust talent pipeline. She also assists with career exploratory and communications courses that focus on soft skills to support students' professional development and career success.
